About the Artist

Jake Knopke is a Kansas City–based abstract artist whose work lives in the space where renewal arises from destruction; pain gives way to tranquility. His paintings are visceral, layered expressions of transformation, built from intuition, emotion, and a meditative process of creation.

Working in mixed media, Jake combines paints, charcoal, resin, gold leaf, mica, and concrete to build complex surfaces that reflect light, depth, and motion. Each piece evolves through countless layers — scraped, poured, and reimagined — capturing both the turbulence and beauty of becoming.

His work draws heavily on the dualities of life: fragility and strength, clarity and uncertainty, ruin and rebirth. Through these contrasts, Jake explores the idea that imperfection isn’t something to be hidden — it’s where the light gets in.

What begins as a deeply personal process of self-reflection becomes something universal. The resulting pieces invite viewers to feel rather than interpret, to connect with the unspoken emotions that exist beyond words.

For Jake, art isn’t about replication — it’s about resonance. Each canvas becomes a record of transformation, a visual echo of the unseen forces that shape us all.
